Miscellaneous

I had a colored clipping of a Chinese opera coat from The New York Times on my bulletin board for about 5 years, thinking I wanted to create my own version of an opera coat from some as yet unknown recycled material.  Several years later, as my husband discarded many old silk ties, I knew the patterns and rich colors would be the ideal material for my contemporary opera coat.  I subsequently came across the insides of a piano at a local dump, and began experimenting to create a modern family of Kachina-like figures. It’s wonderful to find discarded materials in unexpected places.
